Project Preparation: I Got the Plans (December 2025)

This post marks a change of course for the SV Sienna project.
Over the past year and a half, the focus was on preparing my Shark 24 for offshore sailing,
but I have decided to switch direction and build a Setka A instead,
with the goal of racing the Setka Atlantic Challenge 2029.

In the video, I explain why I am making this change,
what led to the decision,
and how the project will move forward from here.

What Was Done

  • Received the Setka A plans
  • Reviewed the design and construction approach
  • Defined the new overall project direction

Materials and Tools

At this stage, the focus is on documentation and planning.
No materials have been purchased yet.

What’s Next

The plans are hand drawn, so the next step is to rebuild the boat in CAD.
This will give me a clearer understanding of how the boat goes together,
and it will help with estimating volumes, weights, and other key properties.

The CAD model will also be a practical tool later when planning the interior layout
and integrating systems.
